About True Colors

The first day of college is a big step... just don't let the past trip you up. At least there's free pizza!

True Colors is a slice of life comedy, drama and coming-of-age webcomic about new beginnings and self-actualization. A room assignment mixup on the first day of Trueman University’s freshman orientation thrusts four incoming college students together, catalyzing new friendships and new conflicts. Iro, Kit, Ben, and Sonia are all looking forward to fresh starts, but first they must face their pasts, futures, personal demons, and family legacies as they figure out who they want to be for the next stage of their lives. The weirdly enthusiastic R.A. doesn't really help.

The story structure alternates between five Chapters taking place in the "present day," and four Interludes focusing on backstory for each of the main characters, emphasizing their personal arcs/themes and recontextualizing their actions in the present. To advance the story, click on the green "right" arrow above/below each page, click on the page itself, or use the left/right arrow keys on your keyboard. True Colors updates every Tuesday, unless it doesn't.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I make fanart/fanfic/cosplay of your characters?
A: I wish you would, please show me if you do!

Q: Is it okay if I charge money to make art of your characters?
A: One-off commissions or the occasional print are fine, the main thing I ask is that you don't start mass-producing a bunch of your own True Colors merch. Also just be sure to credit me and the comic!

Q: How do you make True Colors pages?
A: Chapters 1 through 2 were made in Adobe Photoshop, everything after that was drawn in Clip Studio Paint and lettered in Adobe Illustrator.
